In The Magic Screen I photograph boats in oceans and lakes on Google Earth. The series consists of photographs I’ve taken of the computer screen with my 4x5 camera and  contact sheets I’ve made by placing light-sensitive photographic paper directly on my laptop that are then printed in a traditional darkroom. The series also includes a video loop of planes reflected in the surface of water and photographs of planes I’ve tracked using FlightAware - a flight tracking app. Occupying boats and planes, we move like cursors on a screen, or the stylus in an Etch A Sketch where continuous, dissolving lines suggest where we have been.
